My Ramblings on the Motorola Droid
My apologies for the blurry, amateur video.
The Software Solution of Synergy
I apologize for the quality of this video recording. I still haven’t acquired the skill.
This is just a video explanation of using a software KVM solution instead of a hardware solution.
The Big Bang Theory – Captain Future is Coming
For you fans of the show The Big Bang Theory, you may have noticed some of the cool geek items in Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment. There are quite a few that I found really cool, like the Firestorm figure and the Green Lantern collectibles on the shelves. Well one of the items that is hanging on the wall kept catching my eye every time I watched an episode this past season (I’m new to the show), a poster with a robot and a man that had similarities to Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers. You can see the poster I am referring to in this clip at about 2:15, over the right shoulder of Penny:
I finally found out a little background on this poster this past week.
The poster is from a cover of a pulp book that was published in the early 40’s called Captain Future. Thanks to that show and the total awesomeness of that poster, I became intrigued with the character and backstory, especially after reading about it here. Some of those covers are just plain brilliant. I had never heard of Captain Future before starting my search but instantly became fascinated by the information that I found. I started looking online to see if I could find any of the original pulp books to buy but, of course, they are rare and in some cases pretty expensive. I found out today, though, that the hardcover of the collected works is coming out in July.

I’m actually excited. I may still look for the original books though.
Thanks The Big Bang Theory.
New Dell Studio Hybrid
I bought a Studio Hybrid from Dell’s outlet section this week for less than $400. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up for a project that involved setting up a media center to play all my videos, music, view pictures, watch Hulu and so much more from my TV. Eventually, I have a plan of getting rid of all my DVDs and replacing them with media on a hard drive to free up space in the house. Having over 250 DVDs in my collection takes up a lot of room.
The Studio Hybrid came with a 2.0GHz Pentium Dual Core Penryn, 3GB of memory, 160GB 5400RPM SATA drive and a integrated Intel GM965 video card.
Here is a video of the setup.
Update: One thing I failed to mention about XBMC in this video that should be noted is the plugins available in the wild. There are Hulu and You Tube plugins that will allow you to watch their content from within XBMC. The only plugin that came with XBMC preloaded is a Apple Trailers plugin that will allow you to download all the movie trailers from Apple to view within XBMC.
Journey Will Never Die
I don’t know if it’s just me or what but I’ve noticed a recent trend in Journey songs becoming really popular now in current TV commercials, TV shows and movies.
I want the world to know that I’ve been a Journey fan for about 25 years now and have listened to their music non-stop since then. So, when all these youngsters start listening to Journey and make it a trend or something (it could happen), I never stopped believin’.
Of course, Journey isn’t Journey without Steve Perry.
